Long bio:

David Widder-Varhegyi is a performing artist and creative who works on stage, in screen, and through song.  Stage credits range from Cyrano, in Cyrano de Bergerac, to his recent Off-Off Broadway appearance as the Televangelist in the opera-theatre piece PROPHET$. Digitally, he has over 30 short film credits, and can be found in an upcoming feature film and television show. As a tenor, his repertoire spans from the sacred choral and classical literature, to musical theatre, and even an Elton John semi-tribute show.

David graduated from Cedarville University with a BA in Theatre Performance. Opting, at that time, not to take on additional debt for grad school, he chose to spend 5 years working in different character studies. He spent time learning the systems of residential construction, organic animal husbandry, and teaching English internationally. Returning to the performing arts industry, he recently spent two years training classical voice under the tenor, Edward Washington II.

In 2021, David gave his first public performance since university - a staged, costumed, and colorfully lit interpretation of Elton John’s music, pulling out the wings and sparkles for a 2022 New Year’s Eve sold-out performance of this semi-tribute show.  Featured as a soloist with the choir of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Wheeling, WV, under the direction of Robert Troeger, his sacred choral work continued recently with the Motet Choir of the Chautauqua Institution, under the direction of Joshua Stafford. He’s been featured in a web commercial for Backstage.com, and an upcoming commercial for QuoteNerds. David has 15 university and semi-professional theatre credits, with notable roles being Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice, Clown 2 in The 39 Steps, Father Flynn from Doubt: a Parable, and Polixenes/Bear in Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale. In 2023 he produced a combination theatre piece and art gallery in Wheeling, WV and Hamilton, ON. While immersed within the work of 25 visual artists local to each city, he played the solo role, Narrator, in Duncan Macmillian’s Every Brilliant Thing.

David married a blonde international bombshell in July of 2023 and moved all the way from the United States to...Canada. A U.S. citizen originally from Charlottesville, Virginia, he now lives and works with PR status out of Hamilton, Ontario. He is also a playwright, with two of his pieces seen on stage: [Wholly Metaphor], dramatic music-theatre for narrator and chamber orchestra, and Leave it to Jeeves, comic theatre for three actors adapted from the stories of P.G. Wodehouse. As a playwright, David has two specific works in development (ask him about what they are - let’s bring them to life). As a performing artist, David is actively pursuing representation to facilitate his objective of a life-long career asking questions, playing with text, and re-presenting stories. None of this is done alone.
